Come join us in bringing uncanny characters and frightening monsters to life in a world filled with suspense, mystery, and psychological horror! Infinite Loop Studios (ILS) is seeking a talented 3D Character Artist & Animator for Grimrail, our 3D first-person horror mystery game. We want to empower you to contribute your skills and creative voice to a bold, story-driven indie game.
THIS IS A REVENUE SHARE POSITION. It is not salaried or hourly. You will receive payment through a percentage cut of the final revenue up to the amount stated, with a bonus model that will reward additional contributions past the minimum workload. This means that payment will be deferred until the product is released. We are projected to release the project in 6-8 months. We understand if this is not a feasible model for you, and we wish you all the best with your job search.

Grimrail is a single-player horror mystery set on a surreal luxury train spiralling through an ominous void outside of time and space. Combining psychological horror, intricate puzzles, and morally charged storytelling, the game offers players an unforgettable exploration of the roots of evil.

PREFERRED (BONUS SKILLS):

  • Character concept art capabilities.
  • Monster and creature design experience.
  • Motion capture knowledge.
  • Illustration or graphic design skills (for UI elements).
Responsibilities

As a 3D Character Artist & Animator, you will:

  • Design and Model: Create stunning, game-optimized characters, from concept to final sculpt, complete with accessories.
  • Rig and Animate: Develop clean, versatile rigs and deliver dynamic, repeatable animations (e.g., running, attacks, idles, and jumps).
  • Create Cinematics: Animate key cutscenes in the game that advance the story and build atmosphere.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with artists, designers, and developers to align with Grimrail’s artistic vision and gameplay needs.
  • Enhance Immersion: Implement animations in Unreal Engine 5, including designing animation blueprints.
  • Iterate and Innovate: Contribute to the game’s ongoing creative dialogue, refining designs to enrich the player’s experience.
