Position Overview

Asland Learning Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and creative 3D Printing, Coding and STEM Instructor to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences for children.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with young learners and can make technology, engineering and problem-solving concepts accessible, practical and fun. The teacher will plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons in coding, 3D design, 3D printing and other STEM-related subjects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach engaging lessons in 3D design, 3D printing, coding and STEM.
  • Introduce students to beginner-friendly coding platforms and programming concepts.
  • Guide students in designing and creating models using age-appropriate 3D-modelling software.
  • Demonstrate the safe and proper operation of 3D printers and related equipment.
  • Lead hands-on projects involving engineering, robotics, science, technology and creative problem-solving.
  • Adapt lessons to accommodate different ages, learning levels and abilities.
  • Encourage creativity, critical thinking, teamwork and independent learning.
  • Prepare lesson materials and maintain an organized, safe learning environment.
  • Monitor students’ progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and school staff when required.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot classroom technology and equipment.
  • Follow all academy policies and safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching coding, robotics, 3D printing, engineering or other STEM subjects.
  • Knowledge of one or more coding platforms or languages, such as Scratch, ScratchJr, Python, Blockly or similar programs.
  • Familiarity with 3D-design software such as Tinkercad, Fusion 360 or similar applications.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting 3D printers is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, camp, tutoring or after-school setting.
  • Strong classroom-management, communication and organizational skills.
  • Patient, dependable, creative and enthusiastic about working with children.
  • Able to explain technical ideas clearly and in an age-appropriate manner.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • A valid criminal record check for working with children is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in education, computer science, engineering, technology or a related field.
  • Experience with robotics platforms such as LEGO Education, VEX, Arduino or micro.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience designing project-based STEM curricula.

Candidates should be available for one or more of the following:

  • Weekday after-school classes
  • Weekend classes
  • Pro-D Day programs
  • Spring, summer, and winter camps

Pay: $18.41-$20.00 per hour
