JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled 3D Printing Program Specialist to take full ownership of our dental CAD/CAM printing program. In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert responsible for running day-to-day printing operations, driving quality and accuracy, and ensuring our printing workflows meet the needs of our Crown & Bridge department.
This is a hands-on technical role with program-level accountability: you will operate the equipment, refine processes, partner closely with CAD designers and technicians, and ensure the program delivers consistent, high-quality output at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead operator for daily use of dental 3D printers (e.g., HeyGears).
  • Manage the complete digital workflow: STL/PLY file import/repair, nesting/orientation, support strategies, and job scheduling.
  • Perform all post-processing steps including washing, curing, trimming, labeling, and quality control of printed models.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve 3D printing SOPs, checklists, and best practices.
  • Monitor key metrics (accuracy, first-time success rate, reprints, consumable usage) and implement improvements to reduce costs and errors.
  • Own preventive maintenance schedules and partner with vendors for equipment servicing.
  • Work closely with CAD designers and crown & bridge technicians to ensure models align with restoration requirements.
  • Provide technical insights and feedback to improve design-for-printability and clinical outcomes.
  • Act as the internal point of contact for all questions related to 3D printing operations.
  • Conduct QC checks (margins, occlusion, contacts, fit accuracy) and approve/reject prints.
  • Maintain program logs of print jobs, resin usage, reprints, and machine performance.
  • Ensure compliance with lab quality standards and safety protocols.
