QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid 3rd Class Operating Engineer Certificate
  • Industrial Electrician License and/or Millwright License would be a great asset
  • Mechanical aptitude required
  • Must display excellent sanitary habits and possess good knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMPs, 5S+1 Programs
  • Strong preventative maintenance and troubleshooting ability
  • Solid knowledge of high speed filling and packaging lines, with HMI and PLC interface
  • Familiar with continuous improvement processes, root cause analysis & Lean Manufacturing methodologies
  • Good communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimum supervision
  • Must be flexible in terms of shift work, Overtime and perform other duties as required
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the job

Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is accountable for contributing to various Operating Engineering and Maintenance tasks. This position will maintain the life of equipment, minimize downtime, and ensure the safe and efficient operations of the plant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for maintenance and operation of boilers, ammonia/ freon refrigeration, cooling tower, air compressors and Waste Water Treatment (DAF System)
  • Able to Inspect and repair all mechanical and electrical systems, all machinery at Long Life, including good knowledge of HMI, PLC and VFD.
  • Coordinate with Production, Maintenance and outside contractors and ensure that work is completed in a safe manner that complies with all necessary manufacturing codes, regulations and standards i.e. H&S, GMP’s, HACCP, WHMIS, MSDS etc.
  • Communicate daily Engineering Activities with Chief Engineer and update all daily engineering logs, CMMS-MP2, Industrial Matrix.
  • Perform, improve and maintain existing Preventative and Predictive Programs, as per Work Order System, Checklist, and/or OEM recommendations
  • Procure and ensure that required parts are ordered and spare parts are being kept organized
  • Identify opportunities and make recommendations to continuously improve maintenance and operation processes
  • Computer skills are required, proficiency with Outlook, Internet, and good knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Food Safety & Quality responsibility as outlined in SOPs & other training materials provided and accurate record keeping
  • Attend prescribed courses and training as required
  • Other projects as assigned by Plant Management.
