Available Shifts · 3rd Shift, Monday through Friday 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM · This is a 5-day, 40-hour work week with occasional overtime as business requires and includes a shift premium. Responsibilities/Tasks · Follow all safety procedures at all times, including lock-out tag-out procedures, any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained. · Follow standard work; retrieve and load materials; and prep jobs for converting. · Operate production equipment for one or more processes, including printing, laminating, cutting, end sheet fabrication, perfect binding, case making, casing binding, and associated support equipment. · Communicate orally or in writing about process changes and equipment failures. · Monitor the quality of the product and report all variations to the manager. · Participate in Lean and Continuous improvement events and initiatives. · Work in a manner that is in alignment with DIY’s values. Requirements Educational and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED. At least 1 year of machine operation experience. Prior book manufacturing equipment experience, such as working with print binding or finishing, is preferred. Special Skills Required Language – Must be able to take direction and communicate in Basic English as well as read and understand written documents. Math – Must be able to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of the Standard/Imperial measuring system is required, and knowledge of the metric system is a plus. Understanding and use of basic measuring instruments required; micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure is required. Have reasonable organizational skills and mechanical aptitude. Ability to earn pallet jack certification with training provided by DIY. Physical Demands This position requires standing/walking for the full 8+ hour shift. The work involves extended periods of repetitive motion. Walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
