Description

Fortress Nutrition is actively hiring for a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician to work on our Beverage Canning Line.
The right candidate will have previous experience in machine maintenance in the food and beverage industry, be mechanically inclined and have a stable work history with previous employers.
The right candidate will also be able to train on 1st shift for 1-2 months and be able to accountable to the company’s standard 50-hour work week (including rotational weekends as needed).

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair high-speed production lines and equipment using mechanical and electrical knowledge to ensure overall equipment repair needs are addressed in a quick, efficient manner with strong sense of urgency to avoid downtime.
  • Complete product setups and changeovers; Support general operations as needed.
  • Ensure all GMP and HACCP guidelines are adhered to by production staff when the Production Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Execute and document a preventative maintenance schedule for the upkeep of machines and facilities equipment; Record repairs to include disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, calibration, etc.
  • Conduct repairs, perform routine maintenance on equipment, and execute preventive maintenance to determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed to minimize interference with production operations and maximize up-time.
  • Replace defective parts and adjust functional parts or clearances and alignment of moving parts to make them work more efficiently.
  • Complete general building repair, including but not limited to: minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs to the building as needed.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis to determine cause and plan repair or corrective procedures; Engage with vendors to troubleshoot machinery.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment for accuracy and defects.
  • Monitor equipment for unusual sounds or movements to detect malfunctions and diagnose issues.
  • Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts according to specifications, blueprints, machine and equipment drawings, and detailed instructions; Study and understand blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct installation while demonstrating equipment functions to line operators.
  • Maintain complete, detailed, and accurate records of issues and maintenance completed on machines.
  • Provide both guidance and tactical assistance to the supervisors and production personnel in the repair, maintenance, and installations including daily process problem-solving.
  • Apply understanding of how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes to identify options and best solution.
  • Respond quickly with strong sense of urgency to production line calls and resolves issues promptly; Communicate progress to leadership as appropriate.
  • Maintain and ensure spare parts inventory of critical parts and components is accurate; Immediately notify Maintenance Lead of any/all critical replenishment needs.
  • Follow standards for food safety and food quality production according to GMP, CFR, as well as the regulations of major customers and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA.
  • Comply with all safety and quality regulations, reporting issues to the Operations Manager, Director of Operations, or COO immediately.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership.
