Job Details: Title: Scrap Handler Class 3 – Full-Time – Portland, IN 47371 ATTN Prior Tyson Workers: This location currently at this time is not accepting rehires, candidates who have previously worked for Tyson Foods. The starting pay for this position is $19.40 hr. with a shift increase for third shift. Hours: 3rd Shift- 11:00pm to 7:00am POSITION SUMMARY: The Scrap Handler picks up product off the floor and discards it into the properly color-coded barrels or scrap modules, ensures that reusable product is placed in the proper barrels for regrind, keeps the department neat and clean, reports any issues to the supervisor or lead and fills out various log sheets. RESPONSIBILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE: Responsible for picking up scrap/trash and discarding it into the properly color-coded barrel or scrap modules Assures that only product that is contaminated, burnt, or unfit for regrind is going into the proper color-coded scrap barrels Ensures that reusable product from the line is placed in the white barrels for regrind reprocessing Responsible for keeping scrap barrels clean and in good shape. Damaged scrap barrels are to be discarded Responsible for pushing scrap module back to shipping once it is full, weighing the scrap and dumping it properly and recording weights Responsible for keeping the floors clean (sweeping) and free of debris Perform any other work as assigned by supervisor Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF Requirements Must perform all positions of rotation, if applicable Use and read scales Ability to perform basic math functions (adding, subtracting, multiplying, etc.) with use of calculator PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
