Description We have an opening for a Day Shift Shipping Lead Order Puller/Forklift Operator at the Distribution Center. Summary Under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor, assists in overseeing general operations of Shipping Department. Duties and Responsibilities Essential functions Opens warehouse and oversees order pullers and shipping office during weekends and holidays. Under supervision of the Shipping Supervisor, directs order pullers in daily operations and job tasks. Assists Shipping Supervisor with daily duties. Drives personal vehicle between Distribution Center and other warehouses or main plant. Assists in verifying staged orders for accuracy before shipment. Verifies code date information for Quality Control. Works with Inventory Control Team to assist with correct rotation and usage of items as needed. Assures Distribution Center is kept in a clean and orderly fashion. Follows safety rules and company policies. Other duties Performs duties of Forklift Operator and Order Puller as needed. Performs cycle counts as needed. Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate. Receives written or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor. Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High school plus additional training preferred. Math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. Ability to speak, read and write in English needed for job tasks, conversational Spanish a plus. Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills required. Certified forklift operator. . Valid NC driver’s license with good driving record required. Extensive knowledge of MOPICO warehousing systems needed. Supervisory Responsibilities Is not a supervisor, but has certain responsibilities in leading others in the department. Machines, Equipment, Tools Used Forklift, Stretch Wrap Machine, Calculator, Air Hose, WMS computerized scanning equipment, Steel Toed Shoes, Own or company vehicle. Physical Demands Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles. The worker is required to have eye/hand/foot coordination to operate forklift. Work Environment Works inside warehouse, subject to significant seasonal temperature variations. Fumes from forklifts. Some contact with dust, oil, ink, and grease. Steel-toed shoes required.
