Description We have an opening for a dayshift Transportation Logistics Coordinator. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requires a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience and a Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field of study or 5 years of experience in lieu of Degree. Requires the ability to prepare and format management reports, work effectively and efficiently both individually and in a team environment, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to high quality work. Must also have the proven ability to plan and manage multiple and competing priorities in a highly dynamic environment and the ability to understand the underlying business needs of a request and therefore provide data and analysis beyond what was originally asked. Requires experience pulling data from a variety of sources and systems; data analysis and reporting, modeling and/or optimizing tools, forecasting and/or strategic planning. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills, a strong knowledge of Project-Management and strong quantitative and qualitative analytical and problem solving skills. Must be able to manage changing priorities. Requires well rounded knowledge of inbound/outbound transportation activities, a high level working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access; and excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work aggressively to complete projects on time. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Summary Provides daily management over customer and vendor shipments, resulting in cost savings through mode and carrier optimization. Handling all daily transportation request via phone, email and TMS system. Possess a strong understanding of the day to day operations pertaining to dispatch, shipping, receiving and carrier utilization. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions Process customer orders, plan & optimize shipments into loads, tender freight to carrier and or service providers Processes claims within the transportation department. Claims resulting from either accident or loss product. Also maintains files for fees, fines and other deductions or added cost that are contributed or caused by the carrier. Responsible for filing paperwork for the collection of monies associated with claims and other cost. Update and maintain TMS system with current shipment information Update and maintain carrier and service provider records Provide detailed instructions to customers, service providers or Mt Olive associates Track, process over-sight, research and troubleshoot operational issues or functions Complete daily logs or trackers within the TMS system Handle any spot rate quotes needed for short lead time or dropped load Coordinate with Carriers and/or service providers to ensure on time delivery by tracking pick up, estimating time of arrival and delivery and recovering loads when necessary Assist in the development of transportation planning studies for cost savings and efficiencies Managing carrier scorecard / Maintain DOT files on all carriers Create and maintain freight routing guide compliance to achieve cost goals Proactive communication to internal cross functional teams and external providers Support transportation operational and procurement strategies while maintain a cost effective profile and meeting customer expectations Other Duties Drives own or company vehicle in performance of some job duties. May represent company at outside meetings and events. Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by the Director of Transportation.
