Position Overview:
Robert F. Munroe Day School is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to teach 4th and 5th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies for the 2025–2026 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading, writing, history, and civics while cultivating critical thinking and communication skills in a warm and structured classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach 4th and 5th grade ELA and Social Studies following school and state standards.
  • Design and implement engaging lessons that integrate reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and historical themes.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that supports student growth and achievement.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Regularly assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families.
  • Collaborate with grade-level peers and administrators to ensure consistency and continuity across the curriculum.
  • Communicate proactively with families and colleagues, contributing to a strong home-school connection.
  • Participate in school-wide events, professional development, and committee work as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Florida teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching upper elementary students, particularly in ELA and/or Social Studies.
  • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, writing workshop models, and historical content.
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A commitment to the mission and values of Robert F. Munroe Day School.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with project-based learning and cross-curricular integration.
  • Familiarity with the Science of Reading approach and/or balanced literacy frameworks.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a small school community and contributing to student life beyond the classroom.
