This role exists to ensure Amazon and Walmart stay stocked, inventory remains healthy, and growth does not create costly operational failures. Role Overview The Marketplaces Demand Planner owns demand forecasting and inventory visibility for Amazon (FBA) and Walmart. This is a fractional, execution-focused planning role responsible for preventing stockouts, minimizing excess inventory, and surfacing risks early so teams can act before issues escalate. Why This Role Matters At this stage, inventory mistakes directly impact revenue, customer trust, and operational efficiency. This role protects all three by keeping marketplace inventory flowing cleanly, predictably, and proactively. Responsibilities 1. Marketplace Demand Forecasting Own rolling demand forecasts for Amazon and Walmart Balance availability against excess and aged inventory risk Forecast using imperfect data while clearly stating assumptions and risks 2. Weekly Inventory Planning & Reporting Produce weekly inventory demand and coverage reports Track sell-through, weeks of cover, inbound vs available inventory Highlight risks, constraints, and recommended actions 3. FBA & Logistics Coordination Support inbound shipments to Amazon FBA Coordinate shipment quantities, timelines, and documentation with Operations Reduce inbound delays, errors, and FBA-related issues 4. Inventory Health & Risk Monitoring Monitor stranded, excess, and aging inventory Partner with internal teams on markdowns, removals, or liquidation plans Flag issues early to prevent last-minute fire drills 5. Operational Visibility & Improvement Deliver clear, concise inventory updates to leadership Identify recurring issues and propose process improvements Help shift inventory management from reactive to preventative What Success Looks Like Reduced Amazon and Walmart out-of-stock rates Inbound shipments arrive on time with minimal FBA issues or chargebacks Inventory coverage stays within healthy target ranges Leadership has clear visibility into inventory risks and opportunities Fewer urgent inventory or logistics escalations You’re a Strong Fit If You: Have experience forecasting demand for Amazon (FBA) and/or Walmart Have worked in fast-moving consumer goods or similar environments Are obsessive about preventing stockouts and logistics mistakes Can operate effectively with imperfect or incomplete data Think in systems, not just spreadsheets Take ownership without needing constant direction Believe customer experience starts with having a product in stock
