Description The Roll Forming Maintenance Technician is responsible for the preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of roll forming lines and associated production equipment. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, optimal machine performance, and safe operating conditions. The technician will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime and support production efficiency while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on roll forming lines, presses, decoilers, straighteners, cutoff systems, and material handling equipment. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including gearboxes, bearings, shafts, chains, sprockets, and drive systems. Diagnose and repair electrical systems including motors, sensors, limit switches, relays, VFDs, and PLC-controlled equipment. Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems including pumps, valves, cylinders, and air systems. Align roll tooling and assist with roll changes and setup when necessary. Conduct equipment inspections and document findings to prevent future failures. Respond quickly to production breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain throughput targets. Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and parts inventory records. Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability and efficiency. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company standards and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and OSHA standards. Coordinate with production supervisors to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption. Qualifications 3+ years of maintenance experience in a roll forming or metal fabrication environment preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of industrial equipment. Working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley or similar preferred). Experience with VFDs, motor controls, and industrial electrical systems (120V–480V). Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams. Welding and fabrication experience preferred. Ability to use precision measuring instruments and alignment tools. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise and moving equipment. Preferred Skills Experience with roll tooling alignment and profile changeovers. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation. Education High school diploma or GED
