Description

ABOUT PRET

Pret is an international on-the-go food and drink retailer founded in 1986. Our purpose is to make every day a little bit brighter, through organic coffee, freshly prepared food, and exceptional customer service to millions of people. Pret runs hundreds of shops across the UK, France, USA, and Hong Kong, with additional shops run by franchise partners around the world.
Pret is transforming from a bricks-and-mortar focussed retailer to a truly customer-centric digital business with a leading consumer brand that aims to stand for more than just ‘freshly made, healthy food, to go’. We’re aiming to better understand our customers and their preferences, so now is an exciting time to join us!

Responsibilities

The Integration Engineer will play a critical role in Pret’s technology transformation by designing, developing, and maintaining pipelines, API integrations, and automated processes across the business. Working as part of Pret’s engineering team, this role will focus on building integrations to improve operational efficiency and drive innovation.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Integration Engineer will be responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing integrations and workflows that enhance business capabilities. This includes monitoring and optimising data pipelines and APIs to ensure reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
In addition to delivering core automation solutions, the Integration Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert for data integration and API development. Working closely with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Payroll, HR, and beyond, the role will gather requirements, support UAT, and ensure solutions align with Pret’s technology strategy.
This role will be a key enabler of Pret’s DevOps-led, Agile environment, contributing to integration best practices, process reengineering, and continuous improvement initiatives to unlock the full potential of Pret’s data.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy and maintain secure integrations (REST, JSON, XML, JDBC) and data pipelines to ensure seamless data flow across Pret’s systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot APIs, workflows, and pipelines for performance, reliability, and errors, ensuring consistent uptime and efficiency.
  • Lead data integration efforts to transform, extract, and load data into platforms like Snowflake and other data systems.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing automations and integrations for efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across all business units to gather requirements, deliver solutions, and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Conduct peer reviews, ensuring solutions meet business and technical requirements with a keen eye for detail whilst maintaining code quality and adherence best practices.
  • Work within an Agile framework, managing priorities, supporting sprint planning, and contributing to a DevOps-led development lifecycle.
  • Champion best practices in API security (OAuth, JWT), version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and process documentation.
  • Explore and implement emerging tools and technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and performance bottlenecks in MuleSoft integrations, providing timely support and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Facilitate the deployment and configuration of MuleSoft applications and integrations in various environments, including development, testing, and production.
