Job Summary East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Department of Pediatrics and Medical Education Assistance Corporation is seeking a full-time BC/BE pediatrician with strong clinical skills in the care of sick newborns and a special interest in neonatal medicine. This position would be as a Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor in a non-tenure-track position. Position continent upon external funding The qualifications and experience of the successful candidate will determine academic rank. Responsibilities include managing the medical care of newborns in a 44-bed level III NICU. The candidate selected for this position would be responsible for managing the medical care of these infants, working closely with the neonatologist, pediatrician, and other members of the healthcare team to provide the best possible outcomes for the newborns and their families. They would also educate families about their child's condition and provide emotional support. This physician must have a thorough understanding of the latest advances in neonatal care. Clinical responsibilities may be divided among the various locations and include coverage of the Delivery Room, Well Newborn Nursery, Level II Intermediate Care Nursery, and/or a Level III NICU. In addition, candidates will also have opportunities to pursue a variety of academic and professional development activities, including engaging in resident and medical student education at ETSU, as well as participating in various clinical and quality improvement initiatives involving newborn care. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate, including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
