Education and Experience Required

  • E.C.E. degree/diploma
  • Knowledge of parent education, child development & community resources
  • Experience in facilitating parent education workshops
  • Excellent organizational & computer, communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to Social Inclusion
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to speak second language an asset
  • Flexible working hours
  • Must be computer literate and competent.
  • Car required together with current license and vehicle liability insurance
  • Medical required – including TB (two stages) 6 months current to hiring date
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check 6 months current to hiring date
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR, level C
  • You will be required to work evenings and weekend

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

The Program Facilitator plans, facilitates programs for families/caregivers and children from birth through six years of age, programming indoors, 4 season outdoors and virtual Facebook, Zoom, Storypark and doing live and making prerecorded videos of themselves. Upholds policy and procedures as they relate to the children’ services, personnel and team development. Ensure the accountability of all early years programs and services. Provide families/caregivers the resources and referrals to early child development. The centres are open six days per week. Work schedule will be flexible including evenings, week-ends & satellite locations.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Demonstrates, promotes and articulates the value of children’s play as learning
  • Understands and demonstrates age appropriate and developmental child guidance
  • Awareness of the learning process and the ability to follow a child’s lead to expand learning opportunities
  • Plans and facilitates a variety of developmentally appropriate programs for families and responds to diverse cultural needs
  • Prepares developmentally appropriate programs for infants/toddlers/pre-school children and their families
  • Provides families/caregivers with evidenced based information to questions based on all aspects of a child’s development
  • Supports families/caregivers by providing agency referrals and contact information in the community
  • Supports families in understanding the importance of interacting with their children during the program
  • Plans for and facilitates family centered and professional development workshops and evaluates the effectiveness of the programs
  • Maintains good relationship with other community agencies and early learning programs
