Your Purpose As an AWT Engine Officer onboard MSC Cruises, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of auxiliary systems critical to ship performance. You will ensure that all machinery under your supervision operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with maritime regulations. Working closely with the Chief Engineer and the technical team, your expertise will contribute to the smooth operation of the vessel and the comfort and safety of both passengers and crew. By maintaining and optimizing auxiliary systems, you ensure minimal downtime and contribute to energy efficiency, environmental compliance, and overall ship performance. Your ability to diagnose problems, implement solutions, and oversee preventive maintenance helps the engineering team maintain high operational standards, ensuring a safe and seamless voyage for all onboard. Your Journey So Far • Proven experience as an AWT Engine Officer or in a similar engine officer role aboard cruise ships or large commercial vessels. • Strong knowledge of auxiliary systems, including generators, pumps, boilers, and HVAC systems. • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining machinery from major brands and understanding their operational manuals. • Familiarity with maritime safety regulations, environmental regulations (e.g., MARPOL), and relevant safety management systems. • Excellent diagnostic, problem-solving, and technical skills. • Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, multicultural, and high-pressure environment. Your Essentials • Relevant maritime qualifications and certifications required for AWT Engine Officer duties. • Proven experience in the same or similar role aboard cruise ships or comparable vessels. • Fluency in English (oral and written); additional languages are an advantage. • Strong technical knowledge of auxiliary machinery and preventive maintenance procedures. • Commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence. • Excellent teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. • Flexibility to work onboard a cruise ship, including extended contracts and shifts.
