ABA INSTRUCTOR THERAPIST - EXPERIENCED (AUTISM SERVICES BARRIE/PETERBOROUGH)

Location: Barrie/Peterborough Clinics
Full Time: Monday-Friday
Pay Range: $20.00 - $29.00/hour (pending experience and education)

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A community college diploma or a university degree in a related field and/or BACB Certification (e.g., Psychology, Autism and Behaviour Science, Child Development/Education, Behaviour Science Technology, Registered Behavior Technician/RBT), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)
  • Completion of a 40-hour RBT Theory online course
  • Working knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analytic terminology and concepts
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License, and a reliable vehicle to travel to clients in the Simcoe County and surrounding areas
  • Ability to perform physical duties of the role; ability to engage learners in a variety of developmental ranges (young learners 2-5 years of age, school-age, adolescents and learners up to 25 years of age)
  • Demonstrates behaviour that is aligned with the values and mission of OSG
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Current certification in First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Applicants must be outgoing, enthusiastic, dependable, and demonstrate strong organizational skills
  • Must be willing to engage in Professional Development opportunities; completing behaviour analytic oriented training
Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct therapy/learning sessions that are engaging and fun; be aware of child development and stages and demonstrate this understanding to your play sessions
  • Implement skill-based programming under the direction and guidance of the Senior Behaviour Therapists/RBA’s, and Clinical Supervisor using the principles of applied behaviour analysis
  • Deliver in person (home or clinic) and/or digital therapy services in both 1:1 and group sessions; participate in social clubs programs
  • Use/Prepare reinforcement strategies (unique to each learner) to motivate learner and in a developmentally appropriate manner
  • Participate in activities with children and staff that contribute to positive day-to-day therapy operations
  • Communicate with the Supervising team re: programs and progress for learners
  • Collect data and graph according to protocol
  • Update learner’s binder(s) to reflect changes in programming in a timely manner
  • Prepare materials/data sheets; assist in the completion of baselines as requested/needed
  • Communicate briefly with parents re: progress of their child (orally and/or in daily communication log)
  • Complete daily documentation and cleaning protocol requirements
  • Maintain a neat and organized teaching environment, including instructional, leisure materials, office and storage areas.
  • Be prepared and on time for sessions
  • Demonstrate behaviour that is in accordance with OSG policies and procedures
  • Be coachable! Recognize that feedback is an ongoing part of the role and that it will enhance your skills
