SKILLS:

  • Extensive experience of treating children with Autism applying the ABA technique.
  • Outstanding knowledge of ABA strategies along with PECS, Discrete Trial Training among others
  • Thorough knowledge of autism-related issues
  • Familiarity with communication development procedures to aid in cognitive therapy.
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Aptitude and interest in working with young children
  • Ability to manage and modify challenging behaviours

EDUCATION:

Bachelors in Psychology, Behavioural Science or a Related Field
or
Certificate/ Diploma in Autism and Behavioural Science Studies

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to provide cleared Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
A valid drivers license and vehicle.
Experience working with children
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Responsibilities

The ABA therapist’s main job duty is to utilize and apply Applied Behavioural Analysis principles to client cases. ABA therapy involves both psychological and educational techniques based on the needs of each client. The ABA therapist seeks to motivate the patient through positive reinforcement of good behaviours and ignoring incorrect behaviours. ABA therapy has shown to increase socialization, play and language skills while minimizing or eliminating negative behaviours.
