Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE

As an Aboriginal Community Engagement & Culture Officer, you will provide advice and support to Community Corrections in the case management of identified offender groups in a culturally sensitive manner and ensure appropriate case plans and supervision is implemented consistent with CSNSW mission of reduction of re-offending.
You will also identify and build collaborative community networks and partnerships to improve the effectiveness of community program and services for identified people on supervised orders.
Community Corrections work with adults subject to court mandated orders. We collaborate with other agencies and community partners and seek to restore people’s dignity to promote agency and self-determination and to enable reintegration.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The team is excited to welcome Aboriginal members with great cultural knowledge and/or experience to help make a difference and improve the lives of the diverse communities that we work with.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide advice and guidance to community corrections staff on the scope of culturally appropriate interventions available to identified people on supervised orders.
  • Work collaboratively with community networks and partnerships to improve the opportunities for identified people on supervised order.
  • Liaise with community agencies especially identified communities to promote the aims of the community corrections.
  • Provide culturally relevant information and strategies to support community corrections aims to enable successful reintegration.
