About the roles Aboriginal Community Peer Support Worker roles available in multiple locations: Sydney – Blacktown and Eastern Suburbs Central Coast Tweed Heads Permanent part-time or full-time hours available As an Aboriginal Community Peer Support Worker in the CLS program, you will provide culturally culturally safe, lived experience-informed support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Grounded in cultural identity, connection to Country, and community, this role promotes healing, empowerment and resilience. Your responsibilities - Use lived experience and cultural knowledge to support clients in navigating mental health and wellbeing. - Assist with daily living, emotional regulation, and connection to Country and community. - Facilitate access to Indigenous health services, Elders and cultural supports. - Participate in cultural supervision and training focused on trauma-informed, culturally competent, and peer-led practice. - Engage in reflective practice and contribute to co-design of culturally safe services. - Build relationships with Aboriginal Medical services, community organisations and Elders. - Support community education and mental health literacy initiatives within CALD communities. - Contribute to client voice initiatives by supporting forums and feedback processes that inform service enhancement and co-design. About you - Lived experience as an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander person - Cert IV in Mental Health or Peer work or a relevant qualification - Minimum 12 months working in a Hasi/CLS program - Demonstrated understanding of mental health issues in Indigenous contexts - Demonstrated values alignment with program and organisation - Knowledge of cultural protocols and community structures - Cultural competence and ability to work across diverse communities. - Strong understanding of CLS model of practice - Good knowledge of person-centred recovery orientated care, trauma informed practice and cultural competence - Must be fit to undertake the physical requirements of customer support, including the capacity to lift 10 kilograms unassisted - Demonstrated technical & computer literacy in Microsoft Office and reporting systems Compliance Checks - A current National Criminal Clearance Check (not older than 3 months) and subsequent checks every two years - NDIS Worker Check - NSW Working with Children Check - Current valid NSW Drivers’s License with ability to drive vehicles in license class, including large cars and vans Permanent Australian Work rights How to apply To register your interest, please click ‘Apply Now’ and provide a resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
