GENERAL LABORER PROCESS & UTILITY PIPING Reports To: Process & Utility Piping Foreman Job Overview The majority of ARMI industrial projects include equipment installation, conveyance, exhaust stacks, ductwork, HVAC, process piping, and utility piping. Most all ARMI Contracting work is performed at the customer’s location and requires everyone to travel and stay out of town for extended stays. Tradesmen with a broad skill set and a strong team approach allows a project to be performed with less total tradesmen and more efficiently. ARMI tradesmen are required to help perform all aspects of a project such as rigging; offloading trucks; read / follow blue prints & isometric drawings; move equipment, materials, & tools into the building or work area; clean & maintain an organized jobsite; make wall, ceiling, & roof penetrations; set, level, & anchor equipment; fabricate & install pipe hangers; perform pipe fitting; pipe welding; fabrication work; set roof curbs; operate various equipment; pickup & sweep floors; and other misc. tasks involved in a project. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES General Responsibilities * Always request direction from ARMI Management when encountering something you are not experienced with, not confident in making a decision, have a safety concern but does not know a solution, and/or have concerns on whether something is the right thing to do. * Check in / out trucks, trailers, tools, and/or supplies at the Contracting Facility per policies & procedures. * Mobilization to a project – Notify the Warehouse Supervisor ahead of time to communicate what you are needing to check out and load up so they can be prepared and have paperwork ready to reduce time. Load tools and supplies into company pick up and trailer. Secure the load per DOT regulations. Travel to the jobsite in accordance with company handbook and travel / DOT policy. * Demobilization from a project – Notify Warehouse Supervisor prior to arrival at the Contracting Facility so they can be there prepared to receive, and document all returns appropriately. Unload tools and supplies from company pick up and trailer. Place in appropriate staging areas at the Contracting Facility and sign them back in. * Receive and offload trucks when equipment and supplies arrive at the jobsite. Sign the paperwork in a legible manner. Deliver paperwork to the foreman, superintendent, and/or project manager assigned to the job. * Always securely plug or cap pipe that is stored on a jobsite and place on a pipe rack off the ground to eliminate rodent issues. * Secure both company and personal tools while traveling or on a jobsite. Use chains / locks when having to leave out in the open and secure to a building column or something that is not movable. * Lock job boxes, consumable boxes, bin boxes, etc. to secure materials when traveling or on a jobsite. * Take ownership of company forklifts, company scissor lifts, and all company equipment * Treat rental equipment as if it is ARMI’s. We are 100% responsible for it * Label rental equipment “ARMI use only” and manage the keys appropriately to allow efficient ARMI employee use but not others. * Establish home positions for electric rental equipment and plug the chargers in while not in use. * Equipment Operator training * Forklift license required prior to use of forklifts * Training to use extendable booms safely * Capacity – weights multiply * Fork sliding & rigging * Establish a safe and appropriate home position for all welding gas bottles / propane gas bottles and secure them for ARMI access only. Label bottles when on a jobsite with other contractors. * Always follow company policy for Personal Protective Equipment specifically for the job that is being performed. At minimum, you are required to wear a hard hat and safety glasses when on a jobsite. * Always follow the customer’s safety requirements specific to their location when more stringent than ARMI policies. * Precisely follow customer’s hot works permit(s) and submit the completed form after the fire watch period has ended at the end of the shift. * Precisely follow all customer policies & procedures specific to the location. Do not go in any un-authorized areas without the customer with you for any reason. * Always use material handling equipment such as forklifts, reach forklifts, booms, boom trucks, cranes, scissor lifts, etc. that are rated for the task. Do not guess weights – always get with the equipment manufacturer, and request drawings with weight specifications and rigging instructions SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES * Willing to learn to pipe fit, pipe weld, HVAC, Plumb and Millwright to strengthen your skillset to progress beyond a general laborer TOOLS/FLEET TRUCK RESPONSIBILITIES: * The General Laborer role requires certain tools. Many of the tools are company investments and some of the tools are team member investments. * General Laborer Investment: See Process & Utility Piping Tool List- Team member responsibility * Company Investment: The company furnishes an asset list to sign in/out any tool needed for the job. It is your responsibility to keep up with your assigned tools. * As a General Laborer you must be DOT certified and will be furnished a company vehicle/fuel card. You must keep the truck in the same condition as it was assigned to you. * No smoking * Report any damage to truck * Follow DOT rules
