Medicine Hat College's Registrar's Office invites applications for a full-time temporary Academic Advisor position. This leave replacement opportunity is anticipated to continue until March 2028.

A little about the role:

The Academic Advisor works directly with students to help them achieve their educational goals. Reporting to the Coordinator, Admissions & Advising, the primary responsibilities of the Academic Advisor are to provide professional guidance and accurate information to current and prospective students regarding program and course selection, admission requirements, course transferability, and college policies and procedures; act as a resource and referral agent for student support services; and assist students in developing and implementing individualized educational plans. This position also supports the recruitment, marketing, and promotion of the College by attending recruitment fairs, events, and other functions as required.

Details:

As a successful applicant you'll have:

  • An undergraduate University Degree in a related field OR an equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and work experience.
  • Two years related work experience preferably in a post-secondary educational environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of post-secondary systems, with particular attention to students’ program transition requirements from high school to college to university in Alberta.
  • Knowledge of Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer (ACAT) and the Transfer Alberta Search tool.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to advise students and provide information.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Student focused and committed to the value of post-secondary education.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software applications.

Term of Appointment: September 07, 2026, to March 31, 2028

Salary: $65,543 gross per annum
