POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Academic Assistant will work closely with the Program Director and will provide academic and administrative support for scientific activities. Key functions will assistance with coordination of clinical projects and project staff & volunteers, liaison with external and internal organizations, acting as an editorial assistant for an international journal, as well as some administrative and clerical functions.

Responsibilities

Academic Functions:

  • Provide academic support to Program Director in various scientific activities
  • Supporting the Program Director who is the Editor in Chief of a major scientific journal by tracking submissions, drafting emails, recruiting reviewers, and performing copyediting
  • Review and editing of manuscripts, proposals, protocols, and grants associated with this and other projects
  • Critical literature review and analysis
  • Perform data analysis, interpretation, and presentation
  • Prepare abstracts, manuscripts, and other scientific documents
  • Participation and assistance with CALIPER project outreach and recruitment (such as CALIPER clinics held in community schools) (www.caliperproject.ca)
  • Research data analysis using R statistics and other statistical programs
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to Program Director
