Description

FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY AND EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH:

Chair for Philosophy of Consciousness and Cognition Institute of Philosophy II
In order to fill a fixed-term position in full-time (41,00 hours/week = 100 %) 01.07.2025, we are looking for a
Academic Council (m/f/x), A13
The successful candidate will be hired at the level of a ‘postdoctoral researcher’ (as an academic council), assuming they fulfil the requirements, and advance their expertise and experience to achieve the level of an ‘established researcher’ through independent, criteria-based evaluation. The position is offered in the context of RUB’s program of New Career Paths, enabling candidates to take up the position of an established researcher, starting with a limited tenure of 3 years and the possibility of renewal for further three years conditional upon evaluation. The offer addresses early career researchers who have already a proven track record of excellent research in the broad area of Philosophy of Mind or Philosophy of Cognitive Science. Ruhr-Universität Bochum, one of the leading universities in Germany, provides the possibility to reach a degree of a ‘Habilitation’ if desired. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own research profile and group, embedded also in the ‘Center for Mind and Cognition’ and thus connected to researchers in other departments such as psychology, neuroscience, biology, and informatics. Both the Institute with its research groups and the Center with its many international visiting fellows provide an exciting vibrant environment and excellent facilities for research in this area. The candidate is expected to develop their own research profile and project in the area of Philosophy of Mind/Cognition, publish their work in academic journals and submit applications for third party funding, contribute to teaching, and participate in the faculty’s administration.
