Description

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Sydney Quantum Academy (SQA) is a unique partnership between the University of Sydney, UNSW, UTS, and Macquarie University, supported by the NSW Government. Established in 2020, SQA brings together Sydney’s collective quantum expertise to build Australia’s quantum economy and position New South Wales as a global leader in quantum research, talent development, and innovation. Now entering its second phase of funding, SQA 2.0 is focused on building a diverse, future-ready workforce equipped with the skills needed to support the development and commercialisation of quantum technologies.
We are seeking an experienced academic leader to take on the role of Academic Director (0.4 FTE). This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of quantum in Australia by leading the strategic direction and research excellence of SQA. Working closely with stakeholders across academia, government, and industry including the SQA Executive Board, the University of Sydney’s PVC Research Enterprise, and the SQA General Manager the Academic Director will drive the delivery of SQA 2.0 in alignment with its funding objectives.
To be considered for this appointment, applicants must hold an academic position at one of the four partner universities: the University of Sydney, UNSW, UTS, or Macquarie University.
