JOB TITLE: Assistant Drama Advisor
CLASSIFICATION: Extra Comp
SUPERVISOR: Building Principal
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
CONTRACT: 190 Days

MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

  • Of drama activities.
  • Of current techniques in lighting, staging, etc.

Skills:

  • Ability to guide students toward individual development in acting skills.
  • Ability to get along with students, but must be firm enough to give guidance and maintain control.

Attitudes:

  • Willingness to spend additional hours beyond regular school day in preparation of productions.

Experience:

  • Should have participated in drama production.
  • Should have technical theater experience (lighting, staging, etc.).

Education:

  • Valid teaching certificate desired.
  • Some previous high school drama experience desired.

Responsibilities

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Drama Advisor assists the Drama Advisor with the production of a minimum of 3 productions per year which may include a musical. As a minimum, a musical will be done every other year.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Drama Advisor with the following:
  • Selection and preparation for productions.
  • Directing the productions.
  • Supervision of students.
  • Instruction and coaching of individuals.
  • Supervision of cleaning the stage area during and after productions.
  • Assist in other activities such as stage craft as assigned by the Drama Advisor.
