The Academic HR (Generalist) Analyst provides analytical support to the Schools of Health for all academic personnel activities pertaining to members of the Academic Senate and Academic Federation, collective bargaining units, visiting titles, graduate titles, post-doctoral titles, and miscellaneous titles in the academic arena. The position has primary independent responsibility for management of department faculty appointment, advancement, leaves of absence and salary administration activities. The incumbent conducts in-depth research on complex issues and problematic cases and recommends solutions. The incumbent assists with recruitments and monitors the quality of all appointment and advancement submissions, including merits, promotions, appraisals, five-year reviews and deferrals. Additionally, the Generalist manages all faculty transactional work in UCPath, the centralized UC system for facilitating and recording: payroll, academic personnel, timekeeping and HR transactions.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of Academic Personnel policies and procedures.
- Critical thinking and applied problem-solving skills to research and analyze complex information.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills to effectively respond in a professional manner by email, in person, or by telephone.
- Strong organizational skills to coordinate large volumes of work and establish priorities.
- Strong decision-making skills with ability to utilize resources effectively.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Academic Personnel Manual to include faculty appointment, merit, appraisal and promotion process
- Experience with UCD Academic Personnel, preferably within the Schools of Health
- Experience training one-on-one and in a group setting
- Experience using MIV (MyInfoVault) and RECRUIT (UC Davis on-line recruitment) systems
- Experience with UCPath, AggieService, and the Academic Personnel History and Information Database (APHID)
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of UC policies and procedures governing Academic Senate, Academic Federation, Unit 18 and academic bargaining units
- Understanding of the NIH cap as applied to faculty compensation.
