EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in education, Adult Learning or a related field. Bachelor’s Degree with significant higher education experience may be considered. Teaching credentials (or higher education teaching experience/post degree work) preferred. 3 years of experience providing guidance and support to students in a post-secondary setting. Experience working with a diverse range of students, including English Language Learners and vulnerable populations with a wide range of educational backgrounds and academic skills, including students from marginalized backgrounds and those with complex learning needs or students needing unique academic supports. Experience offering a variety of study skills workshops and assisting in the delivery of small group learning is essential. Demonstrated experience related to program design, curriculum development, and pedagogy that engages and supports underrepresented student populations, non-traditional students and students who are academically at risk is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The ideal candidate will have teaching credentials or extensive experience working with adult learners in a post-secondary environment, with a demonstrated learner-centred philosophy, and knowledge of programs relevant to the disciplines they are supporting. The successful applicant will be able to encourage communication between students and faculty and be an integral part of the team that will help Okanagan College realize the promise of a world-class college.
