JOB DESCRIPTION

ESM Prep is seeking energetic, engaging, and kind tutors in the LA area who can support their students holistically as mentors. The tutors in this position will assist students one-on-one in preparing for college by readying them for the AP exams and mentoring them through their overall high school academic journey.
We call our tutors Academic Mentors because we prioritize the holistic development of each of our students. All applicants should be passionate about working with youth and should have previous experience tutoring, teaching, and/or coaching.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior experience tutoring or teaching math and science, with a minimum content knowledge in AP Physics (through C), and Chemistry - AP Biology is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be able to tutor in-person 2 to 3 days a week, mostly in the Brentwood area.
  • You must be available for in-person tutoring in students’ homes.
  • Additional expertise in high school subjects such as calculus, physics, history, English, Spanish, computer science, economics, SSAT, and/or ISEE is a plus!
  • Available part-time. Tutoring usually occurs on weekday evenings (after 3 pm) and/or on weekends. Typical work schedule is Sunday-Thursday.
  • Available to tutor for a full school year or longer.
  • Reliable internet access.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Prior experience teaching or tutoring ACT/SAT or willingness to go through our advanced test prep training, is a big plus and would open you up to more work opportunities.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • wage: $60-$80/hr (academic tutoring in high school subjects starts at $60/hr while test prep tutoring starts at $70/hr)
