GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Academic Support Associate provides instructional and academic support to participants enrolled in adult education and workforce development programs. Working under the supervision of the Lead Instructor, this position assists in reinforcing classroom instruction, supporting skill development, and helping participants build foundational academic and workplace readiness skills necessary for program completion and employment success. This role is designed as a support-level instructional position, assisting with delivery, reinforcement, and participant engagement rather than primary instruction. This is a part-time, grand funded role.   SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: 1. Support Lead Instructor in delivering instruction aligned with College and Career Readiness (CCR) Standards and High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) preparation.  2. Assist participants in developing foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and other core subject areas.  3. Reinforce classroom instruction through small-group support, one-on-one assistance, and guided practice activities.  4. Provide academic support to help participants prepare for GED exams (HiSET/GED) and workforce readiness.  5. Support digital literacy development, including basic use of computers and workplace tools such as Microsoft Office applications.  6. Assist with classroom management, maintaining a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.  7. Help facilitate instructional activities, including practice exercises, test preparation, and skill-building exercises.  8. Assist with administering quizzes, assessments, and other evaluation tools.  9. Maintain accurate records, including attendance, participant progress, and academic support documentation.  10. Collaborate with instructors and program staff to support participant progress and address barriers to success.  11. Attend staff meetings and required program trainings as assigned.  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.   REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND BACKGROUND: 1. Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.  2. Demonstrated proficiency in basic academic subjects (reading, writing, social studies, and mathematics).  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 4. Ability to work effectively with diverse adult and youth populations.  5. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools.  6. Prior tutoring, mentoring, or instructional support experience preferred. 7. One year of previous experience in a similar role preferred. The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate. Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00 to $20.00.
