Our unique model combines the Arrowsmith Program, which strengthens underlying cognitive capacities, with small-group academic instruction. With a commitment to individualized education, our classroom ratio is one teacher to three students, ensuring personalized support and meaningful learning opportunities.
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Academic Teacher to deliver core subjects—English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science—to students in Grades 2 through 9. The ideal candidate is student-centered, flexible, and committed to helping children and adolescents with diverse learning profiles achieve success.
Key Responsibilities
· Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in English, Math, Social Studies, and Science aligned with BC curriculum standards.
· Provide instruction to small groups (1:3 ratio), adapting lessons to meet the unique needs of each learner.
· Implement structured phonics instruction; preference given to candidates with Orton-Gillingham or Linda-Mood Bell certification.
· Support students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (without Intellectual Disability) using evidence-based teaching strategies.
· Collaborate with colleagues to integrate academic instruction with students’ individualized Arrowsmith cognitive programs.
· Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding academic progress and strategies for success.
· Participate in shared supervision duties (school breaks, indoor/outdoor lunch coverage, and playground monitoring).
· Contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive school culture that celebrates student growth and achievement.
Qualifications and Experience
· Bachelor of Education degree (or equivalent) and valid BC Teacher Certification (or eligibility).
· Training in phonics instruction; Orton-Gillingham or Linda-Mood Bell certification strongly preferred.
· Experience teaching Grades 2–9 across multiple subject areas.
· Demonstrated experience working with students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and Autism (without ID).
· Strong classroom management skills suited to small-group learning environments.
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $57,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
