The Academic Technology Specialist reports to the Senior Technology Project Manager. These individual supports curriculum delivery and has the primary purpose of enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the electronic platforms and technology used by the college.

Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Excellent computer skills necessary with the ability to adapt quickly to new software and platforms, while understanding the standard software life cycle.
2. Organizational skills and abilities to prioritize workload and complete detail-oriented assignments.
3. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skill to work well with limited guidance.
4. Effective communication skills, including speaking, writing and active listening.
5. Great customer service and interpersonal skills.
6. Familiar with software implementation.
7. Must be able to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
8. Must be able to manage workload and meet deadlines and challenges in a professional manner.

10. Based on requirement analysis, the IT specialist must have the ability to assess/evaluate off the shelf-software and provide educated recommendations for potential implementation.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  1. Advanced knowledge and skills in the Microsoft 365 suite of products, including but not limited to, Power BI, Power Apps, SharePoint, Visio, and Power Automate.
  2. Advanced knowledge of relational DB and SQL queries.
  3. Advanced knowledge and skill in scripting/programming language preferably python and/or PHP

  4. Comprehensive knowledge on web related technologies:

  • HTML and CSS
  • XML and JSON
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide support to faculty, staff, and students with usage of curricular software, including but not limited to, eValue, T-Res, Elentra and ExamSoft, MS Office Suite, including Teams, Zoom.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ability to carry software solutions through the software development life cycle (SDLC). This includes the ability to work independently and or contribute as a team member to any of the following:
  • Feasibility study
  • Requirements gathering and analyzing
  • Designing/prototyping
  • Developing/building (write clean, concise, and efficient code)
  • Testing
  • Implementing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work collaboratively with college administration, faculty, staff, IT, and other University departments to assist in planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing college IT solutions.

  1. Define and design software training procedures and programs.

  1. Maintain and support good operation as well as recommend continuous improvement of college database, software, and platforms.
