Job Summary
The Access Control Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the access control equipment and door lock hardware. Specifically, the position is involved with the installation, maintenance and repair of building access control system equipment, associated door hardware and intrusion systems. The position assists in the cutting, distribution and maintenance of keys and locks. Provides on-call support after hour for keys, locks, and card access as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of access control, and lock installation and maintenance
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • Use of personal vehicle required to transport self, tools, and small parts

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read plans, specifications, schematic drawings and sketches
  • Requires excellent customer relation skills
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex problems in field
  • Able to work effectively with representatives/workers from all fields, regardless of level, e.g., architects, engineers, construction and trades supervisors, and various Institute clients from students to leadership in both public and private/residential spaces
  • Continuous learner: keeps current with technological changes and rapidly adapts to technological changes
  • Ability to use a personal computer (Outlook and job specific software)

Starting Salary/Rate
Expected hiring range: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
