REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
An undergraduate degree in any discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and a minimum of 3 years direct experience supporting vulnerable populations, particularly students with disabilities, preferably in a post-secondary environment or the equivalent lived experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
VIU is pleased to offer eligible employees a comprehensive benefit plan; ample paid holiday time; professional development opportunities and a desirable pension plan. As part of the VIU campus community, our employees work with supportive colleagues within an encouraging environment and are provided with the tools and training that promote learning and development. The perks of VIU employment are multiple, and include well-being initiatives and services, strategic discounts, and flexible work opportunities.
NOTE:
Reporting to the Director of Student Services with in-scope supervision provided by AES Exam Specialists, VIU is in search of a candidate who possesses a combination of excellent organizational skills, technical acumen and a proven track for working with and serving students with a disability in a post-secondary environment. While much of the duties are administrative in nature, there are times when the Access Resource Assistant will have direct contact with AS students.
The Access Resource Assistant will also provide additional support to both AS and AES units when required, including back-up reception support during peak periods and absences and serving as an invigilator when necessary.
