We are currently looking for an Access to Early Learning Facilitator to work in our Inclusion & Service Planning Team. The Inclusion and Service Planning team provide a wide range of services that support access and inclusion for children and families in the early years. The team consists of Outreach Workers, Pre School Field Officers, Supported Playgroup & Best Start Facilitators. The team also manages the Kindergarten Central Registration system (CRES) and the Hume Early Years Partnership in collaboration with local providers. As part of this team, the AEL Facilitator will work with a collaborative team of professionals, committed to supporting the HUme community What you’ll be doing:. The officer is responsible for undertaking the key components of the Access to Early Learning (AEL) funding requirements. Managing a caseload of AEL participants working alongside Early Years professionals and families to support eligible 3 year old children to attend kindergarten. Working collaboratively with relevant early years services, Maternal Child Health (MCH), Child Protection and other Family Services to coordinate appropriate support for children and families in the program. Meet the administrative requirements of the program funding through accurate record keeping, reporting of data and participation in the half yearly acquittal process. Provide outreach support to families in their homes and at kindergarten to build the capacity of parents in understanding the importance of their child attending the early years’ service Build parents’ confidence and skills in navigating family services and the early years sector Support participating families to identify their strengths, goals and support needs in partnership with educators Monitor each child’s learning and development at the early years service through to their transition to a four year old kindergarten program. Contribute to individualised family support to help sustain and support children’s engagement with the early years service and identify the need for additional support for the family e.g. use of brokerage funds, in consultation with the governance group Strengthen the home learning environment for the child by providing learning experiences and resources to parents that recognise them as the child’s first educator. Promote the availability of the AEL program and support relevant partners in understanding the criteria for referral to the program. The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work or Early Years or other relevant qualification with substantial recent, relevant experience. Demonstrated understanding and experience working with Victorian Child Protection, The Orange Door. Highly developed oral and written communication skills together with effective decision making and creative problem solving capacity. Demonstrated ability to gain cooperation and engagement with vulnerable families whilst respectfully managing the expectations of a range of diverse stakeholders. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage complex and competing priorities. Current driver’s licence. Why Hume City Council?
