Job Description The Accident Investigation Engineer is responsible for investigating road traffic accidents occurring within the project network, identifying root causes, assessing road infrastructure and operational factors, and recommending corrective and preventive measures to improve road safety and reduce accident frequency and severity. The role supports the implementation of road safety strategies and ensures compliance with the Client’s safety standards, international best practices, and contractual O&M obligations. Key Responsibilities: Accident Investigation Attend accident locations when required and conduct detailed accident investigations within the project road network. Collect and analyze accident data including police reports, CCTV footage, site inspections, and witness information. Identify root causes and contributing factors such as roadway geometry, signage, pavement condition, lighting, traffic control devices, and driver behavior. Prepare comprehensive accident investigation reports including findings, diagrams, and recommendations. Road Safety Analysis Analyze accident trends and black spots across the road network. Develop and maintain an accident database and statistical analysis reports. Conduct road safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards. Recommend engineering improvements such as: Signage and road marking upgrades Traffic calming measures Junction improvements Lighting enhancements Barrier installations Speed management measures Coordination with Authorities Liaise with traffic police, road authorities, and emergency services regarding accident investigations. Support client reporting requirements related to road safety performance. Participate in road safety committees and technical meetings with stakeholders. Preventive Safety Measures Identify high-risk locations (black spots) and propose mitigation measures. Monitor the effectiveness of implemented safety improvements. Support the development of road safety improvement programs across the network. Documentation and Reporting Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for the Client and project management. Maintain records of accident investigations and corrective actions. Ensure compliance with contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or Traffic Engineering. Professional certification in Road Safety Engineering or Traffic Safety is an advantage Experience 5–10 years of experience in road safety, traffic engineering, or highway O&M. Experience in accident investigation and road safety audits. Experience working with highway authorities or major road networks. Experience in data analysis and accident reporting systems.
