DESCRIPTION:
With an established reputation of over 40 years’ service and dedication, Accordwest is seeking professionals with the skills and experience to join our Board and help Accordwest deliver social returns and add value to the community of the Southwest for the next 40 years.
Applicants ideally have previous experience with Boards with governance qualifications, and they will demonstrate their strategic stakeholder & community relationships. This is a volunteer role, and successful applicants will be offered fully funded access to selected courses through the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD)—a valuable opportunity to strengthen your governance expertise. Aboriginal people are encouraged to apply, helping ensure Accordwest’s membership reflects the diverse cultures, perspectives, and aspirations of the communities it serves.
Commitment and Engagement
Board meetings are held 6 times a year for 1 & ½ hours in the evenings, February to December, with an all-day Board Annual Strategy workshop held on a Saturday in September and the AGM in November usually on a Friday night.
6-8 Board Subcommittee meetings are also held, usually in the alternate months to Board meetings.
Members and Associate members usually nominate and are voted on to the;
Property Subcommittee
Programs and Practice Subcommittee,
Finance Risk and Audit Subcommittee
Culture and Diversity Subcommittee
Associate Members contribute to the work of the Board as non-voting members of the Association.
Meetings are usually attended via videoconference or in person
Resources and Meeting Papers are accessed via and shared through the Convene Board Governance application platform
THE ROLE REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING ATTRIBUTES FROM BOARD MEMBERS:
Full support of the Mission, Vision, and values of Accordwest;
Understanding and acceptance of the role of the Board at Accordwest;
Help and support for the CEO and leadership group to achieve service growth, high service standards and objectives;
Support for moving the organisation in the right strategic direction for the right reasons;
Commitment to the highest standards of governance;
A DEEP APPRECIATION OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BOARD MEMBER:
Maintains strict confidentiality and demonstrates integrity;
Strong knowledge of the impacts of Poverty and Social disadvantage accross the Southwest;
Participation in meetings and in learning and development opportunities with the Board.
Highly desirable requirements
Board and / or Extensive Commercial or NFP experience
Probity
Members must provide evidence of qualifications, 100 points of ID including a Drivers licence and successfully undertake a Police Check.
