OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring accurate data entry and effective communication within the department. This role is pivotal in supporting our financial operations and enhancing customer relations through excellent phone etiquette and upselling techniques.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in an accounts assistant or similar role is preferred.
  • AAT Qualified (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in an accounting role, with strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in using Sage 50 Accounts and other accounting software
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (including use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis)
  • Solid experience with bank reconciliations and VAT returns
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with team members and stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a proactive approach to work
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload efficiently
  • Experience in managing deadlines and prioritising tasks
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: £22,880.00-£28,900.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Bank reconciliations and VAT returns
  • Ensuring the accuracy of financial records and assisting with month-end and year-end processes
  • Maintaining and updating the general ledger
  • Processing and reconciling supplier invoices, receipts, and payments
  • Assisting with the preparation of Management Accounts
  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to provide financial insights and resolve any accounting queries
  • Reviewing financial data to identify areas for process improvement and cost efficiency
  • Producing and analysing financial reports to support decision-making
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations
