The City of Phoenix Water Services Department (WSD), one of the nation’s largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.
WSD is currently seeking to fill an Account Clerk III position within the Billing Customer Services division. Account Clerk IIIs perform highly skilled paraprofessional accounting work using computerized systems.

Additional duties may include:

  • Providing direct customer service.
  • Reviewing and/or auditing financial records.
  • Detecting and taking steps to correct errors or discrepancies.
  • Coordinating, preparing, and verifying City computer data.
  • Creating, reviewing, and/or auditing utility billing.
  • Reconciling accounts.
  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of bookkeeping and clerical accounting experience, including experience in preparing financial reports; supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience in/with:

  • Utility billing.
  • Research and auditing.
  • Accounts Receivable.
  • Working in a customer service environment.
  • Working with computerized accounting systems such as Customer Care & Billing (CC&B).
  • Reconciling receivable and payable statements, reports, logs, and/or other documents.
  • Performing highly detailed data entry in a fast-paced environment and maintaining/auditing records.
