Overview of the role The Account Follow-up Representative II is responsible for the review and resolution of outstanding insurance balances on hospital patient accounts. This role requires learning multiple hospital systems, conducting research analysis, utilizing intermediate skills to work basic to complex outstanding insurance claims, and working closely with third-party payors to obtain appropriate information for resolving unpaid claims. Responsibilities Perform timely follow-up on hospital patient accounts that have outstanding insurance payments. Manage and work an average of 40-50 accounts per workday, including assigned payor denials and zero-payment reports. Gather additional demographic, clinical, medical records, and insurance-related information necessary to pay outstanding medical claims. Analyze, communicate, and participate in resolving denial and variance trends with other teams. Identify and prepare less complex claims for reconsiderations and appeals. Assist leadership in managing assigned A/R and ensure resolution of outstanding insurance balances. Deliver education and training for new hires and assist less experienced representatives. Requirements High School or equivalent diploma required. 3+ years of experience in a related field. Ability to follow directions and perform work according to department standards independently. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Customer Service oriented. High-Speed Internet access (minimum 300 Mbps download speed) and unlimited data. Smartphone for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) application. What Would Make You Stand Out Knowledge of revenue cycle processes impacting insurance reimbursements. Knowledge of insurance follow-up processes with an understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies. Excellent communication, good judgment, tact, initiative, and resourcefulness. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task. Demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly and develop proficient operating skills.
