Description

JOB SUMMARY

With DBT as the ‘front door to business’, the Business Engagement Unit plays a key role in supporting the Government’s Growth Mission by harnessing the Department’s strategic relationships with business, promoting join-up, and optimising how we engage with business as a Department and across Government
We are recruiting for two roles to work across Business Engagement. They will develop the strategic direction of the DBT’s overall business engagement, deliver a long-term plan and translating this into clear engagement plans for Ministers and Senior Officials; and maintain and operate the cross-Whitehall Account Management Framework for selected companies and driving excellence in the way that Account Management is undertaken across HMG.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The roles would lead on:
1. Developing engagement policy, such as the account management framework for DBT and across Whitehall
2. Long-term account management strategy and links to wider Departmental strategy
3. Establishing governance structures and forums to operating and oversee the future account management system for Government
4. Building and maintaining relationships with account managers within DBT for the c.70 tier 1 companies
5. Managing the work with teams across DBT and horizon scanning for emerging trends
6. Producing a long-term engagement forward look, ensuring seniors’ buy-in, and keeping it updated
7. Develop strategic plan of events that supports future milestones (sectors, policies and initiatives)
The roles are exciting, fast-paced and provides the opportunity for self-directed and driven work and leadership. It is particularly varied in needing the skills to design and establish a system in the early stages of the role, then transitioning to building relationships, operating and convening groups across Government to iterate, assure and improve the way we do things.
The roles advertised are high-profile with frequent senior engagement and attention. This role would be ideal for a self-starter, who thrives in a fast-moving, ambiguous, and complex environment, skilled in consensus building and has the stamina and resilience for tight deadlines.

THE REQUIREMENT FOR SC CLEARANCE IS TO HAVE BEEN PRESENT IN THE UK FOR AT LEAST 3 OF THE LAST 5 YEARS. FAILURE TO MEET THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS WILL RESULT IN YOUR SECURITY CLEARANCE APPLICATION BEING REJECTED.
