JOB DESCRIPTION Compensation $51,200 - $95,900 Purpose Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant is responsible for effectively managing the full cycle accounting process, preparing and analyzing reporting packages and completing reconciliations. Responsibilities Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts. Perform ongoing review investigation and correction to ensure consistency and accuracy Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital. Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet, and intercompany accounts. Investigate and present solutions for any related discrepancies Perform intercompany consolidation and monthly settlement of intercompany transactions Monitor compliance with Sysco’s policies, procedures & accounting standards, e.g. SOX, FAMM, etc. Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports Maintain fixed assets sub-ledger and reporting and ensure all fixed asset transactions are submitted to the fixed asset system on a timely basis Prepare weekly and monthly reporting for internal, Corporate office and external reporting. Act as a subject matter expert for internal departments; provide accurate and timely information and support to the Manager, Financial Analysis and Reporting and Corporate Controller Collaborate with other members of the Finance Team to achieve overall operating objectives Conduct ad hoc projects as required Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met. Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor. Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills Must have a minimum of 1-2 years in an accounting related role. High School diploma required Completion of Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related degree preferred. CPA designation or currently working toward an accounting designation preferred. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office; proficiency in AS400 system a plus This is a remote role, the successful candidate can reside anywhere within Ontario. Education Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
