Role Overview As an Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory regulations, and supporting the financial health of the organization. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with expertise in German accounting standards (HGB) and a proactive approach to process optimization. Your Tasks Financial Analysis and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with HGB. Responsible for the complete and proper bookkeeping of the company, including IC account reconciliation and fixed asset accounting. Compliance and Taxation: Oversee compliance with all relevant tax regulations, including VAT and corporate tax filings. Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with statutory requirements. Handle VAT pre-registrations and ZM reports. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts. Provide variance analysis and insights to support management decision-making. Process Improvement and Systems Management: Identify and implement opportunities to optimize accounting processes and systems. Ensure the effective use of financial software and tools to enhance operational efficiency. Manage, improve, and implement accounting software solutions for the company, such as NetSuite. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives. Assist in internal audits and contribute to risk management efforts. Collaborate with external collection agencies for overdue customer accounts and ensure timely payments through dunning procedures. Your Profile Certified Bilanzbuchhalter or equivalent qualification. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on HGB compliance. Proficiency in financial accounting software and tools (NetSuite explicitly, additional systems include DATEV, SAP or similar). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management skills. Fluency in written and spoken German and English is mandatory.
