Description

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Fitness & Lifestyle Group is looking for an Accountant to join our Group Finance team and play a vital role in delivering high-quality financial accounting and compliance outcomes. In this role, you’ll take ownership of key month-end processes - including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations - while also contributing to both internal and external reporting, in addition to finance improvement initiatives.
This newly created role comes as we strengthen our team in anticipation of a major system transformation to Workday. While this presents an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience through a significant technology transition, the core focus of this role will remain on managing the day-to-day financial operations and delivering accurate, timely outcomes as part of business as usual.
If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and take pride in ensuring the integrity of financial data, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process month-end journals, including review of allocated general ledger accounts and posting of relevant accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
  • Maintain and reconcile assigned Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure data integrity in the general ledger, adhering to relevant finance policies, procedures, and Accounting standards
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports for areas of responsibility.
  • Support financial analysis of actual results versus budget/forecast for designated business units or cost centres.
  • Assist with the financial management of stock for club and gym supplies
  • Coordinate with the Payroll team to support payroll accounting processes,
  • Assist with the capitalisation of fixed assets from Work in Progress (WIP) accounts to the Fixed Asset Register
  • Assist in the external audit process, including preparation of reconciliations and workpapers to meet audit requirements.
  • Contribute to compliance reporting, including preparation of BAS, FBT, and ABS surveys in line with statutory requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders by responding to queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide support during the ERP system transition from Microsoft Dynamics to Workday, as required.
