Description
Atlantic Housing Foundation (AHF) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Part-Time Corporate Staff Accountant to support the corporate accounting and finance functions at our Iberia office. This role will focus primarily on the corporate side of accounting operations rather than property-level accounting and will assist with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting support, and other finance-related activities. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CORPORATE ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS * Prepare and post journal entries for corporate entities and departments. * Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts. * Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. * Support preparation of internal financial reports and schedules. * Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. * Assist with intercompany accounting and reconciliations. * Support corporate budgeting and forecasting processes as assigned. * Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies. AUDIT & COMPLIANCE SUPPORT * Assist with annual audits and financial statement preparation. * Support tax and compliance reporting requests. * Maintain compliance with accounting standards and company internal controls. ADMINISTRATIVE & TEAM SUPPORT * Collaborate with corporate departments and operational teams regarding accounting matters. * Respond to internal accounting inquiries in a professional and timely manner. * Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE * Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. * Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience required. * Experience in corporate accounting strongly preferred. * Experience in affordable housing, multifamily housing, real estate, or nonprofit accounting is a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES * Strong understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP). * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT * Part-time position with flexible scheduling based on business needs. * Position is based in the Iberia office and requires regular in-office attendance. * Occasional additional hours may be required during month-end close or audit periods.
