The Vermilion Metropolitan Exposition Auditorium and Office Building Authority, doing business as the David S. Palmer Civic Center, an equal opportunity employer, is seeking an individual to perform a wide variety of tasks for financial functions related to the collection, accuracy, recording, analysis and presentation of the Arena’s financial operations. Under direct supervision, and in compliance with established departmental and regulatory agency procedures and guidelines, performs financial functions.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Accounting or Finance. Will consider an Associate degree or non-degreed accountant with five years of experience in a related accounting field.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the preparation of journal entries, post to general ledger.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements.
  • Responsible for monitoring bank accounts, cash flow/transfers, and investments.
  • Ability to reconcile general ledger accounts, sub ledger accounts, and bank accounts.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining financial data, accounting control sheets, including the use of software that would enhance the performance of the accounting function.
  • Prepares special financial reports and/or analysis which are requested.
  • Responsible for completion of financial reports to include all IRS reporting.
  • Ability to perform internal audit analysis on accounting processes.
  • Ability to manage accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Advanced understanding of revenue recognition process.
  • Work with management to evaluate and document accounting procedures.
  • Responsive to internal and external client needs.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and/or in writing both internally and externally.
  • Make monthly, quarterly, and/or annual presentations and Board or Board committee meeting presentations.
  • Advanced communication skills, both verbal and writing.
  • Ability to analyze information.
  • Ability to redirect attention to various priorities as they may arise.
