QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field OR a Diploma with equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an accountant for businesses with $20M+ in annual top line revenue. Preference for those with exposure to cross-border accounting and intercompany transactions, and/or exposure to manufacturing sectors.
  • A strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles (APSE/IFRS); familiarity with GAAP is considered an asset.
  • 2 years of experience with running payroll.
  • 3 years of HR administrative experience is considered a bonus.

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated experience with accounting software Quickbooks Online
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and Google Sheets
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office / Google Suite
  • Ability to manage multi-current accounting processes and handling foreign currency conversions.
  • Knowledge of data management and financial reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Full cycle accounting and maintenance of financial records including revenue, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accruals and adjustments.
  • Log and reconcile all cross-border intercompany transactions, ensuring accuracy in multi-current (CAD and USD) environments.
  • Oversee and facilitate inter-company transfers, ensuring clean and accurate transactions.
  • Bank and account reconciliations; executing formal month-end close processes across multiple accounts.
  • Prepare and complete government filings (CRA), including HST and payroll deduction and other tax / authority filings remittances.
  • Preparing monthly / quarterly budgets and reports across multiple divisions.
  • Work alongside an external accountant and/or accounting firms on notice to reader and audit engagements, and year end financial reports.
  • Provide guidance and oversee the development of interns and junior accounting staff.
  • Ongoing Accountant process improvement on needs basis.
  • Additional ad hoc requests related to the finance / accounting function, general administration.
  • Other tasks as required
