Description:

Position Summary
The Accountant position is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of accounting data and its timely flow for input to the centralised accounting system. The position will provide support and backup to the Accounting Manager and Finance Managers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare accurate monthly Terminal financial reports.
  • Provide management with relevant information and reports as required including variance analysis.
  • Prepare all necessary Group reporting requirements (APAC, Australian and Dubai Head Offices) including monthly reporting packs.
  • Review coding of monthly payroll and calculation of employee provisions.
  • Monthly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts and resolve any unreconciled items.
  • Prepare month end journals (prepayment, accruals, payroll, banking, employee provisions and recharges)
  • Inventory including monthly process reports and reconciliation of Inventory to general ledger.
  • Reconciliation of all intercompany accounts.
  • Assist Accounts Payable team with invoice codes, recharges and journals.
  • Assist with half year and year end schedules (For half year and year end statutory accounts).
  • Ensure the implementation and compliance of all group policies
  • Asset register management and compliance with audits.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budget and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and consolidate monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) for group companies, including GST, Fuel Excise, and FBT, ensuring timely returns to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
  • Provide assistance with annual financial tasks, including FBT returns, Workers Compensation renewal, insurance renewal, statutory accounts, and tax schedules.
  • Support process improvements, assist accountants and Terminal Finance Managers, and contribute to both internal and external audits, including follow-up on audit issues related to accounting

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Accounting degree or Professional accounting qualifications (CPA, CA) required.
  • Proven experience within a major business organisation.
  • Experience with computerised accounting systems.
  • Experience in industry an advantage.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion an advantage.
  • Proven business acumen.
  • Proven management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of business / accounting & information systems.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Highly computer literate (Must have intermediate to advance excel skills & experience with accounting systems)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work to demanding timelines when required.Excellent attention to detail.
