The best hotels run on Shiji—day and night. Job Description Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will manage general ledger (GL) accounting under Mexican GAAP. This role will lead closing processes, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance with local accounting standards while collaborating closely with the U.S. finance team on cross-border accounting, audits, and reporting. What You’ll Do: Oversee and manage general ledger (GL) accounting for our Mexican entity, ensuring compliance with Mexico GAAP and group accounting policies. Prepare and post journal entries. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, including preparation of supporting schedules in line with company deadlines. Reconcile balance sheet and P&L accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies. Support the preparation of financial statements in collaboration with tax advisers and act as the primary contact for audits. Collaborate closely with the U.S. and Europe finance teams, to support cross-border accounting activities, reporting needs, and coordination. Ensure compliance with all statutory tax filings, reporting requirements, and internal controls for Mexico. Identify, recommend, and drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the GL function. Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Tax advisors to maintain complete and accurate financial records. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as needed Qualifications Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities): Minimum 5–7 years of experience in accounting, including several years in general ledger responsibilities. Strong knowledge of Mexican GAAP (NIF); Proficient in ERP systems (Microsoft Navision experience preferred) and Microsoft Excel (advanced level). Well-organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills in Spanish and English, written and spoken. Ability to work independently while collaborating across time zones Nice to Have: SOX familiarity and other compliance and process controls. Experience with US GAAP is an advantage. Experience working for a US-based company or in a multinational environment.
