George Con Yanardasis trading as GCY Accountants ABN 79 796 244 820 located in Coorparoo QLD 4151 seeking to employee a full time Accountant (General) to join the business.
The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. This role supports the finance department in managing general ledger activity, budgeting, reconciliations, and other core accounting functions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • CPA or CA qualified (or working toward accreditation) – preferred but not always required.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
  • Solid knowledge of Australian tax laws, GST, and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and financial analysis tool

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger records.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Perform bank, account, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, PAYG, and other statutory obligations.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, payroll entries, and journals.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on cash flow, expenses, and financial performance.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
  • Support external audit preparation and liaise with auditors when required.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and tax regulations.
  • Continuously improve financial processes and internal controls.
